  • Technological Impact: The New Wave of Auditing

    March 5, 2012
A nerdy middle-aged man sits squinting at his roll of tape, glasses perched high on his nose, pencil behind his ear, calculator in his hands. This is the stereotypical accountant. However, with technology comes a new image of accountants. Hauling laptops, emailing on smart phones and performing Excel calculations, accountants today can’t relate to those old, dated images.
I am so thankful for the New Jersey Society of CPAs and their efforts in helping me become a CPA. A few years ago I was hospitalized with a serious illness, and, while I was in recovery, the time elapsed on one of the CPA exam sections I had previously passed. I was worried about having to start from scratch after everything I had been through, so I contacted the Society to see what options, if any, were available. I was quickly informed that I could petition the State Board of Accountancy to get my time extended on the expired section, and, after much help from the amazing people at the Society, my request was granted.

I am very thankful that I was a member of the Society at the time. Seeing the effort spent to help me get my credit back was truly inspiring. Further, I was able to utilize the study tools and tips available on the Society’s website as a guide through the remaining exam sections, and today I can happily say that I am a CPA.
